PRIOR ART SPACE is a next generation art collector's space founded by Oliver Elst and Laura del Arco are a well-known collector couple based in Berlin and Barcelona.
Laura, a Fashion designer and Art director and Oliver a former Automotive designer, both long term expats in Shanghai, China, entered the world of art collecting several years ago and, since then, have built significant art collections individually and together.
After collecting for years, thei realized that art collectors have a responsibility to not only collect works of art if not to support proactively and widely the artists in the collection. The importance of loaning works to institutions and the value of exhibiting the collections publicly.
Their drive is to inspire young collectors to support artists and guide and inspire the next generations of collectors towards a more unestablished democratized art world, based in the collaborative support and building long lasting close relationships with galleries, artists, curators and collectors for a mutual and common benefit, to share the passion for Art.
Prior Art Space has locations in relevant cultural european cities and display curated exhibitions from the private collections of the founders Del Arco Collection and Cuperior Collection, as from other young and established Collections worldwide.
The collections decided to open to the public to reach a broader audience and give their artists a stage worldwide.
The aim of our space is to give voice to internationally and historically underrepresented artists and to bring to the conversation the different visions on concepts that reflect relevant concerns in a contemporary landscape.
Prior curated exhibitions curate shows arround diverse concepts in a monthly changing group show or solo show in our different locations.
In this exhibition and in the context and focus of our art collections, we collaborate with galleries and artists curating exhibitions in which artists already in our collection or in our radar, can exhibit in our spaces their latest body of work.
